The Swiss stone pine in Goms grows at 1800 to 2500 metres above sea level in rare locations in mostly rocky terrain. Its roots often reach more than 15 metres into crevices in the fertile soil. Exposed to all the rigours of nature, the trees form themselves into gnarled, weathered landmarks. Often comparable to people, marked by fate on the outside, the inside harbours a true beauty. Every single Swiss stone pine has its own shape, its knots, its "buttini" (bulges). Avalanches and falling rocks sweep them down into the valley. Once nature has released them, they are transported to Arven Leo's workshop. This event is only in German.
