Winter Military World Games 2025
A global sporting event in Central Switzerland and Goms.
from 23 to 30 March 2025
5 of them in Goms
From March 23 to March 30, 2025, Central Switzerland and the Goms region will host an extraordinary sporting event: the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games. Under the theme "Military Champions for Peace," more than 1,500 athletes from around the world will compete in various winter sports disciplines. CISM promotes friendship and solidarity through sport. Since 1948, the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) has organized sports events that strengthen international exchange and solidarity among military personnel. The Winter Military World Games are a central part of this mission.
STRONG SWISS TEAM
A strong Swiss delegation has been selected for the competitions in the Nordic centre of Goms. Amy Baserga, Lena Häcki-Gross and Niklas Hartweg will be competing in the biathlon. James Pacal, who recently won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships and will now be demonstrating his skills once again at the World Games, deserves special mention.
There is also a good line-up to look forward to in cross-country skiing. Among those taking part are sisters Nadja and Marina Kälin, Cyril Fähndrich and Beda Klee, who are all in good form and aiming for good results.
Lars Beglinger and Severin Müller have been nominated for the ski orienteering races.
HIGH-CALIBRE INTERNATIONAL FIELD OF PARTICIPANTS
The international field of participants is also high-calibre with top athletes from numerous countries. The expected athletes include French biathlete Lou Jeanmonnot and Austrian biathlon world champion Lisa Hauser. Also on the start list are Italian athlete Samuela Comola, runner-up in the single mixed relay, French biathlete Fabien Claude, silver medallist with the men's relay at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, and Chloé Chevalier, who has already stood on the World Cup podium several times.
SUSTAINABILITY IN THE FOCUS
The 2025 Winter Military World Games will set new standards as the first-ever carbon-neutral games. Thanks to existing infrastructure, short transport routes, and the use of public transportation, CO2 emissions will be minimized, and unavoidable emissions will be offset. The Games will leave a lasting legacy for military sports in Switzerland. Alongside the promotion of elite sports, the event will also enable inclusion through parasports competitions for injured soldiers.
Experience the excitement of an international sporting event and be part of it as the best military athletes in the world compete for the title. Lucerne 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience.
We wish all athletes the best of luck, especially the Swiss delegation, at the CISM Military World Winter Games 2025! May the competitive spirit and camaraderie that define this event create unforgettable moments for all participants.
