Is cross-country skiing after sunset possible? Yes, thanks to Loipe Goms.
The Nightloipe between Ulrichen and Obergesteln offers an ideal opportunity extend the training after dark.
As an ideal enhancement to the numerous kilometers of available loipe during the day, the approx. 4.5 km long floodlit loipe allows to extend the cross-country skiing adventure while enjoying the winter twilight. The usage of the Nightloipe is included in the Loipenpass of the Loipe Goms.

The recommended starting point for the Nightloipe is at the Hotel Walser in Ulrichen. From there, the well-maintained slope leads along the young Rhone to through Obergesteln until the hairpin bend right next to the Golf Restaurant Goms. The loipe then runs along the forest towards Ulrichen, past the chapel of St. Anna zum Loch and from there the journey continues parallel to the Äegina mountain stream back to the starting point.

With a valid Loipepass from Loipe Goms, you can travel for free on the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway between Oberwald and Fiesch – even without cross-country skiing equipment.
From Brig follow the cantonal road No 19 (Furkastrasse) for 37 km to Ulrichen.
The Goms valley is also easily accessible from direction Zurich / Lucerne via car transport Andermatt – Furka.
The Alpine passes Furka, Grimsel and Nufenen are closed in winter.

Parking spaces in reach of the cross-country sking slope are available around the railway station of Ulrichen. Follow the local parking guidance system.
By train from Monthey, Martigny, Sion, Sierre und Visp: Exit in Brig. Then take the Matterhorn Gottard Bahn regional train (R43). After 1h15min exit the train in Ulrichen.
The Goms valley is also easily accessible from the Zurich / Lucerne via the Andermatt- Furka tunnel.
