UMS'nJIP (Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen)
The Oberwalliser Volksliederchor brings together singers from all over the Upper Valais. It promotes and cultivates Valais folk song. It is chaired by Ursula Pfammatter from Münster and is directed by Javier Hagen. The Upper Valais Folk Song Choir performs in traditional Valais costume and enjoys singing its cheerful, upbeat and contemplative songs in small groups during social gatherings - and with a bit of luck, they can also be heard in the pubs of the Upper Valais late at night after rehearsals!
UMS'nJIP (Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen) are one of the most active ensembles for contemporary new music, with over 1400 concerts and 300 world premieres in 40 countries as well as more than 35 international awards. For more than 25 years, they have also repeatedly worked with their own musical roots; today's programme features excerpts from their new and extremely intimate works on Valais folk song.
