UMS’nJIP — im Störgarten - MEbU Kammermusikkonzerte

02.03.2025
The Swiss new music duo UMS'nJIP is one of the most distinguished ensembles for contemporary new music. Over 1400 concerts in 40 countries, including at the Venice Biennale and the Shanghai New Music Week, line their unique musical path. In this programme, they explore the genre of the art song and present a song cycle Cycles based on poems by the Valais poet Rolf Hermann from his current volume of poetry "In der Nahaufnahme verwildern wir.

PROGRAMME:

UMS'nJIP
im störgarten

UMS'nJIP have commissioned over 300 works since 2007 and have performed individual works over 100 times - which is almost unique in the world of new music. Parallel to their work as performers, they are also active as composers and have received 35 international awards for their works. In their work, they constantly scrutinise classical genres - in this case the art song. The inherent sophistication of the art song on a compositional and textual level is a particular challenge. The duo's personal affinity and arrangement (voice, recorders and electronics) offer an appealing terrain for a very special approach to a genre that knew how to achieve a symbiosis of text and music like no other.

PARTICIPANTS:

UMS'nJIP
Ulrike Mayer-Spohn, recorders/electronics
Javier Hagen, voice/electronics
