Take on the Gommer Challenge – who will log the most laps.

The Gommer Challenge offers three exciting stages with attractive prizes. New this season: Each stage is supported by a sponsor. The participant who completes the respective stage the most times wins the grand prize. The Gommer Challenge provides the perfect opportunity to take on a sporting challenge and compete with other cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Whether in the classic style or skating, participation in the challenge is free and open to all. However, a valid trail pass is required. All three stages start at the Nordic Center in Goms. With varying course lengths and difficulty levels, there is a suitable route for cross-country skiers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. This winter season, it's not about speed, but the number of runs: The participant who completes a stage the most times wins. Each participant can only win once; if they win again, the runner-up moves up.

is the Gommer Challenge?

  • You can ride it whenever and as often as you like
  • When you register your time will appear on the ranking list

How

does the Gommer Challenge work?

  1. Scan QR code or click on goms.ch/gommer-challenge: "Start now".
  2.  Select "I am starting for the first time" or "I am already registered".
  3. Select route, start timing - and go!
  4. Follow the signs for stage 1,2 or 3 & stop timing at the sign "End of Challenge
  5. Check the results on goms.ch/gommer-challenge/rangliste

For timing with Strava, or manually, you have to register in advance and then confirm the email from noreply@goms.ch. Here we go!

Stage 1

On the Pische Sport Stage 1, you will ski uphill on a blue, easy trail (Rottenloipe). The route is marked with green signs (Stage 1 and Pische Sport).

Start: Nordic Center, Ulrichen
Finish: Cross-country skiing hut, at the train station Oberwald
Distance: 4.8 kilometers
Prize: A voucher from Pische Sport worth CHF 500.00.

Stage 2

On the Hotel Glocke Stage 2, you will ski downhill on a blue, easy trail (Rottenloipe). This route is also marked with green signs (Stage 2 and Hotel Glocke).

Start: Nordic center, Ulrichen
End: Niederwald train station
Distance: 12.3 kilometers
Prize: A voucher from Hotel Glocke t worth CHF 750.00.

Stage 3

The Gommer Sport Stage 3 leads over a challenging black trail (FIS/race trail) with inclines and descents and is also marked with green signs (Stage 3 and Gommer Sport).

Start: Nordic Center, Ulrichen
Finish: Nordic center, Ulrichen
Distance: 3.5 kilometers
Prize: A voucher from Gommer Sport worth CHF 500.00.

MGBahn Cross-Country Challenge

 

On stage 4, you have the opportunity to complete the MGBahn Cross-Country Challenge. The aim is to be faster than the train on the track, can you “get it”? Take part, there are great prizes to be won!

Stage 4 runs down the valley on an easy blue trail (Rottenloipe). Follow the green signposts of the Gommer Challenge, which are marked with a round sticker of the MGBahn. Here you first run in the opposite direction of the signposts for stage 1 to the Nordic Center in Ulrichen. From there you can follow the signs for stage 2 to Niederwald at the train station.

Start: Cross-country ski trail hut at Oberwald railroad station

End: Niederwald railroad station

Distance: 17.2 kilometers

You can record your individual time using the start/stop button directly on the website, linking to Strava, uploading GPX data from a GPS device/sports watch or recording your time manually, e.g. with a stopwatch.
